Trail Type, Distance & Elevation:
There are more than 20 miles of horseback trails accessible from the equestrian camp. Trail riding for horses is only allowed in the northern portion of the park - horses are not allowed south of HWY 54. Park personnel were not familiar with the horseback riding trail degree of difficulty or conditions. If you have ridden these trails please let us know.

Park is open year round - however spring and summer are better months for horseback riding. Weather conditions can render some trails unsafe - check weather forecast and trail conditions before you ride.

Parking Access:
Access to the camp sites is good. Parking is back in for all six equestrian camp sites. Road surface at campground is gravel.

Camping & Corral Availability:
Once a WWII era naval training station, the park provides camping opportunities with 223 individual sites, 7 group camps, and 10 camping cabins. There are six individual camp sites in the equestrian camping area. Corrals are centrally located and are not necessarily adjacent to each camp site.

Water is available in a central location at the horse camp and is not available at each site. Restrooms are located between the camp sites and the open area. There is a large outdoor riding arena. Group shelters and an amphitheater are available in other camp areas throughout the park. Flush toilets, showers, dump station, electricity are also available, however, not at the equestrian camp area.

Rules & Regulations:
Overnight and day use fees apply. For reservations see Idaho State Parks Reservations.
